Senior Director – Performing Arts, Elgin Community College
Tommy Hensel currently works as Senior Director of Performing Arts at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL. He is a native of Columbia, SC and has worked for more than 40 years as a professional actor, singer, stage manager, director, and arts presenter. He holds a B.A. in music and a B.A. in communication from Florida State University and an M.A. in theater from the University of South Carolina. Tommy is president of the board of directors of Heartland Performing Arts, producers of the new Midwest Arts Expo. He recently stepped down after 11 years as Chair of the Illinois Presenters Network. He served for six years on the board of directors of NAPAMA (North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents) and recently received the NAPAMA award for Excellence in Presenting the Performing Arts. Tommy has extensive experience in grant writing and frequently serves on grant review panels for state, regional, and national arts organizations
